To meet the health and fitness goals of our members and guests in an environment that is friendly, clean, welcoming and enjoyable for all ages.
Prairie Life Fitness is one of the nation's leading operators of upscale health and fitness clubs. We have nine facilities in four states, with over 1,000 employees and over 30,000 members. Prairie Life is "Fitness for the Entire Family". We not only have adopted that as our slogan, but are strongly committed to providing services for and actively engaging our members in programs and activities for all ages and ability levels. We take great pride in all of our clubs; each offers the latest fitness equipment and programs. But, what really makes us different is our professional, member-oriented staff. It's our job to do whatever we can to help our members improve the quality of their life through fitness, recreation and fun.
The first Prairie Life Fitness location opened in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1985. The two original partners, Dean Rasmussen and Bob Kerrey wanted to offer a full service club that focused on health and fitness activities for the entire family and for people of all ages and abilities. The 60,000 square foot multi-service facility provided an extensive array of services – aerobics, indoor and outdoor swimming, weight lifting, indoor jogging, a wide variety of exercise classes, a nursery for small children and multiple youth programs. Prairie Life Fitness was designed to appeal to a broad cross-section of men, women and children. Based on the success of their first club, Dean and Bob opened a second facility in 1990 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Since then, eight more Prairie Life Fitness locations have been established in four states, including two in the Kansas City area, a second location in Omaha, one in West Des Moines, Iowa, and one in Franklin, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville Tennessee. The newest Prairie Life opened at Midtown Crossing in Omaha in 2009.
